Ah the entry way... How else were we suppose to get in? With help from Grand Davo Crane Service and Southwest Builders, Jim Ragotzy and helper constructed and installed the balcony. Southwest Builders installed the doors.
The 25 year old roof was in need of replacement. What better time to do this than now? So we hired Farley's suggested roofing contractor Troy Osterhouse. They did a fine job and even let Charles do some work.
These photos show the work of Charles and the contractor Farley Siding and Gutters. We replaced all of the gutter system and added aluminum soffit, fascia, and some vinyl siding on the new dormer.
We added 10 skylights when the roof was being redone. It was a great way to include more light without knocking out bricks for new windows. Troy Osterhouse's team installed the skkylights while Charles did the Framing on the inside.
The open floor plan and vaulted ceilings made for an unique framing job. But with Ken's help we raised the walls and helped section off the space. We should also mention: Thank God for the Porter Cable framing nail gun!
The electrical was a group effort with Morris, Rob, Consumers Energy and Charles. We had a totally new service run to a 200 amp box and over 300 outlets switechs and lights. Wow!
With raising heating/cooling costs we wanted an efficient insulation system. We insulated the outside walls with an R 19 insulation and the interior walls with a sound absorbing R 11. The real project was the foam insulation sprayed on the entire roof structure. This system created a seal so that virtually no air can escape the foam.
How much drywall do we need??? We had over 200 sheets of mostly 12 ft x 4ft pieces of drywall in carry up stairs size cut glue screw tape mud texture sand and prepare. This was a tough job! Chandler drywall did the mudding taping and texture.
With a team of Eric Newhouse, Brian Lyster and Charles we painted over 7600 square ft with at least 3 coats of paint. The color scheme was developed with the help of Donna Rathert.
After musch conteplation, Brian and Charles decided to install the nearly 1800 square feet of 3/4 inch hard wood flooring themselves. So Charles bought a $500 flooring nailer and 2 weeks later it was done!
