When
my children were in elementary school, we had “rice nights” on Fridays
to talk of needs larger than our own. Dolls from third world countries
told their stories at our dining room table. In late 2004, Mary
Magdalene appeared on my canvas with an insistent plea for help.
The Global Mother series is my response. It has arisen from a
place deep within and far beyond me. I am strongly attached to
each woman I paint. Her story always reveals mine at some level.
Her story becomes Every Woman’s story, pointing to archetypal truths.
I hope that each woman I paint feels connected to this archetypal
feminine energy, that it might empower her to claim her place in this
world—for the good of all.
Umuntu ngumuntu ngabanye abantu
My humanity is bound to your humanity, for we can
only be human together.

I am available as a portrait artist to do an image of your
choosing. Let's talk about the possibilities: a family
member, a heroine you admire, a peace and justice themed piece...
